The clubhouse first Initial concept sketches
the caps st georges clubhouse is firstly concerned with the enviroment around the project site. the tones and the colours of not only the exsisting buildings, but the natural phenomenahs of the area, the exposed rocks the tones of the plant colonys and the sea caves. but the building is also neautral and is therfore sympathetic to the palette of this unique landscape, and therfore creates a building landscape unity through this methodology. in harmony but juxtoposed or contrasted at the same time., its about the defussion of the two and a coninciding respect for one another. the landscape is there to be respected but it becomes a elevational device to elevate thrill and excite the user and allows us to see the world in a whole new light. the elgant verticles and horizontals of the first floor break up the ground floor defussion and merge into a solid clean cut mass, this allows you to see and experience the carefully placed detail of nature ever so more clearly than you would without it, before it was just a rocky lanscape but with the clean cut white line- building its an idea about the world. we begin to see the moulding of the sea caves by the sea the rough teraain and the detail of plants ever so more beautifully because we now have this beautifull contrast.
The caps st georges island
The image shows the influence of the sites natural phenomenah st geroges island, greek mythology and the lanscape building unity defussion. the elevated platform above the water and the floating natural inspired form to the right which best houses the functionalitys of the building for example toilets kitchen and store but allows for a dramatic and intresting entrance in the club building, the rest of the building is a defussion and openess with the outdoors, a bluring of boundaries between whats inside and whats outside, constructed with slim curtains of glass housing the restaurant, bar and lounge.
The apartment is in the elevated part of the building in contrast with the lanscape merging ground floor ,
it is more of a elevation than just a first floor, because of the slight gradient of the lanscape which slopes towards the sea, and also the extruding first floor nature of it above the ground , the apartments become clean cut frameing devices, when in certain positions in the apartment we can frame the desired views towards the sea, excluding certain areas and allowing you to focus on the beauty of the sea and its rugged coast in perfect contrast to the sleek clean cut apartment. the ceiling and the floor is a continuous neautral tone of stone. with a slate wall which wraps the dining and kitchen areas with elegantly placed sophisticated pieces of furniture.
